Black cherry is a native hardwood valued for both wildlife habitat and timber production. Growing up to 100 feet tall, it produces fruit that serves as an important food source for a variety of birds and mammals, while its flowers provide nectar and pollen for pollinators. Black cherry is commonly included in reforestation projects, forest management plantings, and other conservation efforts throughout Maryland.
