Black locust is a native tree commonly used in conservation plantings, mine land reclamation, and the restoration of disturbed sites. As a nitrogen-fixing species, it can improve soil fertility and establish readily on poor or underproductive soils. Its fragrant spring flowers provide an important source of nectar for pollinators, while its durable wood is valued for posts, poles, and other outdoor uses.
