Crataegus phaenopyrum | 1-year seedlings, 8–14"
Washington hawthorn is a native small tree commonly used in wildlife habitat plantings, hedgerows, and conservation landscapes. Growing 25 to 30 feet tall, its dense branching and thorny structure provide excellent cover and nesting habitat for birds and other wildlife. Bright orange to red fruit persists well into winter, serving as an important food source when other resources are scarce. Its spring flowers also provide nectar and pollen for pollinators.
